Active Projects;

A. We are providing a web-site for the Garberville Rotary Club that is actively being used for posting club projects and information.

B. We are working with the Southern Humboldt Schools to print a book about; "What People Remember about Early Southern Humboldt". We intend to focus on the "Lost Years", which happened from the thirty's until the recent days. There were, at one time, fifty to sixty sawmills operating in the Southern Humboldt School District. The ecology of the South Fork of the Eel River, and watershed, has changed. There are now no major mills. The fish, plants, and animals have changed. Most of all, the people have changed. We intend to print commentary about these facts. The creation of the book will help endear the community and the students to each other. It should also become a financially sustainable project, in that; the book sales will support future book publications.

As of February 8, 2005, the South Fork students have completed interviews with many of the Garberville area "Old Timers. The interviews are being transcribed for editing. The publication date for the book is July 1, 2005. The book "Kick-off Party" is also being planed to coordinate around that date.

C. We have "Vocational Service" Programs at our club meetings, where we "Showcase" outstanding businesses, that might otherwise go unnoticed. This project has worked well to connect community members, and has increased commerce considerably. One of the outstanding features to come out of this "Business Showcase'' has been to help implement "High-Speed cable modem" Internet for Garberville, and the adjoining communities.
